History Mumbai Upnagar Kabaddi Association

Kabaddi has received recognition in India since 1918. The Akhil Bharatiya Kabaddi Mahasangh was established in the year 1950. In the year 1969 Bharatiya Vidyapeeth Krida Niyantran Mandal included Kabaddi in the inter University tournaments. On 1973 Akhil Bharatiya Kabaddi Mahasangh was tranformed to Houshi Kabaddi Mahasangh. In 1979, the same Board staeted coaching for this game. India hosted the first Kabaddi World Cup Tournament in the year 2004. India has maintained a winning position till today since, 1990-Beijing (China), 1994-Hiroshima (Japan), 1998-Bankok (Thailand), 2002-Bhusan (Korea) and 2006-Doha (Qatar). History and Work of Mumbai Upnagar Kabaddi Association

The History Mumbai Upnagar Kabaddi Association was established on 8th August 1982. About 450 clubs from in and around Mumbai have been associated with this association. The male and female teams from Mumbai are of best standards and many of the players have been honoured with State and National Level Sports Awards. Female players in history Mumbai Upnagar Kabaddi Association have created in the year 2009 by playing captain at all levels of sub junior level, junior level and senior level tournaments. In the same year they have been the first runner up in the Chatrapati Shivaji Cup Kabaddi Tournament and the trend of winning the tournaments, individual prizes has been continued till date.

The game of Kabaddi is now being played on mats in the same way as hockey and wrestling.
